Large jug or pot to melt dripping 1 x 12 cup flexible silicone muffin pan 1 x 6 cup flexible silicone muffin pan
Method: Melt the beef dripping - I do it this in a large pyrex glass jug Add all the dry ingredients. You will need to gauge whether to add 2 or 3 scoops of kibbled maize. The mixture needs to be quite wet and too much maize will make it dry. If the mixture does dry out (it goes crumbly) while you are spooning it into the muffin pan cups, put it back into the microwave for a couple of minutes to melt the fat again.
Spoon into the muffin pan cups, so that the tops are level with the top of the pan. This ensures that the fat cakes will fit nicely into the little hanging feeder cage.
Leave them to set hard then remove from the pan and store in a container in the fridge. My advice is to store them in a container with a tight lid, to ensure the smell doesn’t infiltrate through everything else in the fridge.
